Directions From I-79
From I-79 exit 40 (Big Otter)(6.9 mi.): Turn south on WV-16 S (From north-bound exit - turn left; from south- bound exit - turn right). Continue 6.4 miles to WV-4. Turn left on to WV-4 N. Launch is 0.2 miles on the right.
Accessibility
Dirt, carry-down access on rocky path. Ease of river access: difficult. Please watch your footing at this access. Mud at river’s edge can make for a slippery takeout. From Tate Creek Access or Duck Access to Ivydale Access, the float is very laborious. Normal summer flow conditions create many shoals on this float that are nearly impossible to slide through and portage may be necessary at times. Allow additional time to complete this float and consider it a full day’s trek. In our experience, cellular reception is limited. Unrestricted hours. Not handicapped accessible.
