Location Description

The Ivydale Trailhead is tucked away in a small community that once featured a railroad depot when trains and the river were the primary source of access before roads were built for vehicular travel. There are stories about the times the outlaw Jessie James traveled through this area!

Parking & Features

A narrow gravel parking lot is available but is not ideal for horse trailers.

Directions From I-79

From I-79 exit 41 (Big Otter) Distance: 6.8 miles: Head south on WV-16 S toward Ivydale - 6.2 mi. Turn right onto WV-16 S/WV-4 S - 0.4 mi. Turn left onto Ivydale Ridge Rd - 387 ft. Take an immediate right at the end of the bridge onto Ivydale Rd. - 0.2 mile. The parking area is behind and nearly against the Lighthouse Baptist Church.
